Description

Vilmorin’s Rowan (Sorbus vilmorinii) tree

Small elegant spreading rowan tree with dark green fern like leaves that turn orange or bronze in autumn. The pink fruit turn white as they age.

Prepare to be captivated by its very pretty feathery foliage adorned with numerous olive green leaflets, which transform into a mesmerizing dark crimson during autumn. In April to May, creamy white flowers emerge, enchanting the surroundings. Following the bloom, pendulous clusters of berries make their appearance, transitioning from a vibrant red to a delicate white hue as the season progresses. The berries continue to grace the tree well into winter.  It’s a perfect choice for smaller gardens with a mature spread of 5m and height of 5m.

Flourishes in full sun or lightly dappled shade. Its preference for moderately fertile, moist, and well-drained soil ensures optimal growth. With an average to slow-growing rate, this tree establishes a graceful presence in your landscape.

Sorbus vilmorinii has gained the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit
