Spindle (Euonymus europaeus)

Spindle are compact trees with striking pink and orange flowers in late summer.

Spindle is popular with many birds, drawn to its nectar rich flowers in spring and the delicate popcorn like orange and pink fruits in autumn.

Fairly shade tolerant and grows well on most free draining soils.  Thrives on limestone and chalky soils.

The spindle tree can also be considered a shrub, not reaching much taller than 5 meters.

Leaves and fruit are toxic for humans
